Ali's breakthrough was in 1990 and Ali made Ashley Banks a reality in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The show, which featured Will Smith as the star had a tremendous success. It was one of NBC's top shows, ranking 12th in terms of the most watched programming from 1990 until 1992. It also earned two Golden Globe nominations.
